At its Oct. 23 meeting the South Washington County Schools board approved several agenda items by motion and roll call.
Key approvals: - Policy updates: The board approved revisions to the district’s 300-series administrative policies (301–307) and policy 613 (graduation requirements) as presented; the changes ranged from minor grammatical edits to legal updates for graduation requirements. Motion by Sharon (recorded in meeting as "Motion by Sharon"), seconded by Simi. The motion passed by voice vote/roll call.
- Open-enrollment resolution: The board approved a resolution limiting nonresident open enrollment and updating school capacity thresholds and numbers. (See separate article for details.)
- Minnesota State High School League Foundation grants (Form A and Form B): The board approved resolutions to request funds for extracurricular participation (Form A) and student leadership work with activities directors (Form B). The grants are distributed based on student participation and free-or-reduced-price-lunch counts; Form A awards historically ranged approximately $1,500–$4,600 per school and Form B about $5,000. Motion by Sharon, seconded by Eric; roll call recorded affirmative votes.
- Consent agenda and routine items: All consent items were approved by motion. The board approved the agenda at the start of the meeting.
Motions for the above items passed during the meeting; where roll call was used the clerk recorded affirmative votes and the meeting transcript records the motions as passed.
