The Escondido City Council on Oct. 21 voted 5-0 to adopt updates to the city's 2022 general plan, including the addition of an environmental justice chapter to the Community Health and Services element and revisions to the Community Protection element to address evacuation planning, fire protection and other climate-related hazards.
Chris McKinney, deputy city manager, told the council the amendments incorporate recent state requirements and supplemental local plans and that staff's environmental analysis led to an addendum to the 2012 general plan EIR. "Staff recommends approval," McKinney said.
