The manager also said the borough will apply for a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Multimodal Transportation (TRAMP) grant. The TRAMP application is intended to supplement an existing $5,000,000 allocation for Springfield Road improvements stretching from Baltimore Pike through Upper Harvey. The manager said the application is ready to be submitted once council signs off.
Staff also reported a separate state grant award tied to downtown improvements and said the federal match for a $1,300,000 state award was waived because of assistance from the borough's lobbyists; the manager characterized the waiver as the result of lobbying help and said it will provide $1,300,000 from the state without a local match. The transcript contained a further numeric reference that was unclear and should be confirmed with staff: the manager said, verbatim, "the match for the $1,300,000, which we're getting about $506,100,000 dollars to the federal was waived," a statement that appears garbled and requires verification.
