A quorum of the Perryton Independent School District board convened in closed session at about 12:01 p.m. to discuss personnel matters, real property and consultation with the district attorney under Texas Government Code §§551.074, 551.072 and 551.071, a board member said.
The board announced at the start of its meeting that the session had been posted "in accordance with Texas Open Meeting Act, Texas government code chapter 551," and that "no voting will take place in a closed meeting," the same board member said. "Any action the board wish to take as resolved with discussion in closed session will take place after the board reconvenes in the open meeting."
Board members present indicated a four-member quorum. A board member said, "And we're probably there already. 4. Yep. We have 4. We're good." The meeting record notes some members were not expected to attend: one member (Sarah) was not indicating attendance and the presence of another (Richard) was uncertain.
The transcript segments for the meeting show the board moved immediately from opening formalities to the posted closed-session items: personnel (Texas Gov. Code §551.074), real property (Texas Gov. Code §551.072) and attorney consultation (Texas Gov. Code §551.071). The board recorded the start time for the closed session as approximately 12:01 p.m. and later corrected to 12:02 p.m. when reading procedural text.
No votes or formal decisions were recorded in the available portion of the transcript; the board said any actions arising from the closed-session discussions would be taken after it reconvened in open session.
