Douglas County funds housing navigator and needs assessment; Housing Partnership seeks development sites

Maria Tano, executive director of the Douglas County Housing Partnership, told the town hall the agency received county seed funding to develop a housing navigator role and matching funds to support a housing needs assessment. "We have some seed funding there to develop a program so that you have one place that you can call, to help get connected for your housing needs," Tano said.
Tano described the Housing Partnership as the county's housing authority for several municipalities and said the organization provides affordable housing, counseling and down payment assistance. She gave a counselor phone number for housing help at (303) 784-7859 and a website, douglascountyhousingpartnership.org.
When asked about low-income senior housing in Parker, Tano said the Housing Partnership is actively seeking development opportunities throughout Douglas County but had no projects immediately ready to build in Parker. She said the agency pursues land-banking opportunities and state funding when feasible.
Panelists and county officials noted that housing needs are linked to transportation, in-home services and property-tax concerns raised during the listening tour. County staff emphasized that some options, such as property-tax relief, are limited by state law or the county's statutory status unless residents pursue a change to home rule.
