Runagi praised public works for recent improvements, noting cobblestone work and event readiness. He also mentioned the proximity of a Rivian location across the street and promoted the Laguna Beach Kelp Festival run by the Laguna Ocean Foundation as an example of events that use the park.
The mayor said the ribbon-cutting was brief and completed before summer, an important scheduling goal. He said he will post historic photos of the site on social media.
