District to place contracts for LinkIt, Amplify reading products and revised Renaissance use on board agenda

Staff also recommended purchasing Boost and mClass from Amplify to better align with CKLA implementation. Presenters said Boost was piloted this year and is curriculum‑aligned; mClass (referred to by district staff as “M class”) is essentially commensurate with the district’s prior universal screener (Acadience/Acadience/Acadience variant referenced) and would allow tighter integration between screening and the Boost product. District staff said moving from Acadience to mClass would be smooth and that reading specialists evaluated mClass as user‑friendly.
Administrators said they will reduce Renaissance (STAR) licensing for the coming year but continue to use STAR tools for special education progress monitoring; staff said Renaissance usage and cost will be cut nearly in half from last year’s level (last year’s cost cited as a little over $50,000). The presentations noted that some costs freed by these changes will be reallocated to the new products and that the Amplify items and Renaissance reductions will be presented as a combined motion on the board agenda.
Committee members asked about data storage for LinkIt (staff confirmed vendor is cloud‑hosted) and about costs; staff said they will include cost details in the board motion. The committee authorized staff to place the three motions on the June agenda; no formal roll‑call votes were recorded in committee.
