District staff to finalize three‑year equity action plan after comprehensive audit

District administrators told the Academic Affairs Committee that a multiyear equity audit is complete and that they will use the audit to draft a new three‑year equity action plan for board consideration in early September.
Dr. Yannickone said the district used the Mid‑Atlantic Equity Consortium’s criteria for equitable schools as a framework. Staff reviewed four years of longitudinal student belonging survey data (grades 4–12), family survey results, disaggregated attendance and discipline data, standardized testing and graduation rates, and a review of staff professional development. Administrators also held listening sessions with community groups, parent affinity groups, student advisories and faculty.
The current report prepared by the consultant exceeds 100 pages, Dr. Yannickone said. Administrative teams will continue reviewing the findings over the summer; staff plan to develop strategic goals and present a draft to the Academic Affairs Committee on Aug. 18 and seek board adoption at the first September board meeting so implementation can begin with the school year.
Dr. Yannickone and Mr. Lutz told the committee the district will continue reporting to the community quarter‑ly and will shift its equity plan timeline from calendar‑year reporting to a school‑year schedule. Committee members had no substantive objections and welcomed the timeline for a fall board adoption.
