Douglas County adopts $271 million fiscal 2025–26 budget; Gardnerville, Genoa and Minden outline local priorities

The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners voted 3'to'0to adopt the county'wide fiscal year 2025'26 final budgets — a package covering all county funds, the Douglas County Redevelopment Agency and the towns of Gardnerville, Genoa and Minden.

The unanimous voice vote came after presentations by the three town managers and finance staff; the board recorded the motion as "adopt the fiscal year 25 26 final budgets for Douglas County and the Douglas County Redevelopment Agency funds, and the towns of Gardnerville, Genoa, and Minden as presented." Commissioner Les Rice moved the adoption and Commissioner Phil Tolbert seconded. The chair indicated the motion carried 3 to 0.

The vote finalizes a $271 million combined budget for the county and towns and starts the process of submitting required state budget forms. Chief Operating Officer Cathy Lewis told the board the county must file the final budgets with the state by the Monday following the hearing and asked commissioners to remain to sign the state documents.
