Superintendent Don Cowhertz said the gym project budget was $2.5 million and that this purchase order brings the total for the project to just under $2.4 million, leaving roughly $50,000 in contingency. He said the work needs to be done now to avoid a situation where new equipment is installed and does not function because required electrical upgrades were not completed.
The committee voted to approve the updated purchase order; committee members were told the work remains within the overall project budget and that remaining funds may be reassigned to other planned school projects if not spent.
