Board approves hire of Dr. Kimberly Dodds Karen as district director of curriculum, instruction and assessment

The Creighton governing board voted to approve doctor Kimberly M. Dodds Karen as Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, effective July 1, 2025.
Doctor Lauren (district administrator leading the search) told the board the district conducted a comprehensive recruitment advertised on ADE, Indeed, social media and professional associations. Seven viable applicants were screened and the process produced five semifinalists, three finalists and a final interview panel that included central office leaders, teachers, parents and students. Doctor Lauren said the recommended candidate, Dr. Kimberly M. Dodds Karen, has 28 years of experience, including leadership in Scottsdale and Higley Unified School Districts and adjunct experience at the University of Southern California. The candidate holds an Ed.D. from USC.
Vice President Gibson McClain moved to approve the hire and the motion passed with all those present voting in favor.
Why this matters: The new director will oversee curriculum, instruction and assessment work that aligns with the district’s Student Outcomes Focused Governance framework and will join district leadership ahead of summer implementation work.
