The Planning Commission approved a multi‑item consent agenda and scheduled follow‑up for two related items concerning 3618 Hawthorne Avenue.
At roll call the commission approved the consent agenda, forwarding several ordinances and Unified Development Code (UDC) items to City Council with a recommendation of approval. Items on consent included ordinances to acquire parcels for affordable housing, declare surplus city property, and multiple special‑use authorizations for properties across the city (addresses listed in staff reports). The urban design committee’s recommendations were incorporated into UDC items concerning Mayo Island Park, Browns Island Improvement Plan and greening projects for library and school branches.
Commissioners voted to continue ordinance 2025‑14 to authorize special use at 3618 Hawthorne Avenue (a proposed 4‑unit multifamily and six single‑family attached dwellings) and a companion subdivision exception (Subdivision 20 20 5‑0.003) to the Planning Commission meeting on June 17. Both continuance motions passed on roll call.
The commission also voted to allow Commissioner Rebecca Rowe to attend the meeting virtually under the commission’s rules; that request passed unanimously earlier in the agenda.
All consent‑agenda items will be forwarded to City Council with a recommendation of approval.
