Emergency Services leadership reported they reviewed the vendor, contacted another county where Midwest operates, and spoke with the N.C. Office of EMS, which confirmed licensing and compliance. Staff said the county should not notice operational changes other than an increase in available resources. The motion to approve the franchise transfer carried on a voice vote.
Separately, 9‑1‑1 leadership sought permission to apply for grant funding (a full match required) through the 9‑1‑1 board to replace aged Viper radio consoles to restore interoperability with the state system; staff said local consoles date to 2015. The board authorized the application by motion and voice vote.
