Police and public-safety purchases approved included a $49,113 invoice for a new scout car (a budgeted item) and $10,095 to replace an end‑of‑service LiveScan fingerprint scanner with a year‑to‑year maintenance plan, presenters told the council. "It was a budget item this year," a presenter said about the scout car; on the LiveScan the presenter said the machine was at end of life and the total replacement cost with maintenance is $10,095. Motions to approve both items passed by voice vote.
The council also approved an annual warranty for boating equipment and a copier lease for the police department; both items passed on voice votes with no roll-call details recorded.
Under awards and presentations, Joe Pagano, chairman of the Cruisin' Flat Rock car show, thanked sponsors and presented a "winner's circle" award for title sponsors who support the free annual event. "For those who don't know me, I'm the chairman of the Cruisin' Flat Rock car show," Pagano said. He told the council the 12th annual show drew roughly 500 cars and an estimated 3,000–4,000 attendees this year.
City staff also described community outreach initiatives. A staff member reported a Destination Downriver podcast segment featuring local businesses and the Flat Rock Community Center and announced a Calder Dairy promotion to crowdsource a "Flat Rock" ice cream flavor. The staff member said Calder Dairy will run a contest and may put the winner's name on packaging; the contest process includes idea collection, a voting period and a final selection by Calder.
