Pasco staff presents ‘glitch’ code fixes on RVs, commercial vehicle storage; no board action taken

County staff presented a set of technical “glitch” amendments to the Pasco County Land Development Code (LDC Amendment 80) intended to clarify rules on parking and storage of recreational vehicles and commercial vehicles in residential areas. No formal action was taken; the item was set for adoption on Nov. 12 in Dade City.
Denise Hernandez of Code Compliance told commissioners the amendments correct drafting errors and make explicit that parking or storage of recreational vehicles is prohibited in the county right‑of‑way in any zoning district; that MPUD (Master Planned Unit Development) is included where the prior draft only listed PUD; and that county‑owned rights‑of‑way are covered. Hernandez said the changes were reviewed at a horizontal roundtable and by the local planning agency, which found the amendments consistent with the comprehensive plan.
During public comment, residents gave examples of large vehicles, semi‑trucks and storage trailers parked on neighborhood roads. A commissioner noted complaints about commercial trucks and campers being left on Rangeland in Starkey Ranch and urged faster action. Staff clarified the amendment is a fix to existing code language, not a new prohibition.
Hernandez said the board is not being asked to vote at the afternoon session; adoption is scheduled for Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Dade City. She said staff would accept public comment and is prepared to answer questions at the adoption hearing.
