The Middleton City Council approved its consent agenda on Oct. 1, which included minutes for the Sept. 17 council meeting and ratified payables through Sept. 19. Councilors noted a routine accounts-payable cycle and flagged an annual payment to iCrimp for about $109,000 as a predictable, once-per-year disbursement.
In general comments, council members raised requests from residents for additional crosswalks near the high school and within nearby neighborhoods. A council member described two specific locations: a mid-block crossing on Willis between Emmett and Hartley where a neighborhood sidewalk meets the street, and the intersection of Hartley and Willis near the Idaho Power substation. City staff (Jason and the city engineer) said mid-block crosswalks are complicated and must be considered with traffic engineering and sidewalk completeness; staff said they will review the locations with the traffic engineer and report back.
Staff also noted a new sewer department truck has just arrived and that an older truck will be repurposed to streets or parks to modernize the fleet. In addition the city received a side-mower attachment for a tractor to improve mowing of road shoulders. Jason said the equipment will improve field operations and was part of routine fleet management.
Jason said the city had a judicial confirmation hearing related to the sewer plant earlier in the day and that staff member Stephanie Bonnie presented on behalf of the city. The hearing is proceeding, and staff will report back when there are further developments.
No formal council action was taken on crosswalk placements or equipment purchases at this meeting; staff will coordinate with the engineer and return with options and recommendations.
