The Board of Aldermen asked staff on July 15 to convene the public facilities committee to review the city’s long-term projects list and to inspect Center Creek Park, where aldermen said repeated washouts have damaged a park roadway.
"I really want to get the public facilities committee together," a city staff member said and said they would email the committee to schedule a site review. The board discussed the roadway at the south end of Center Creek Park near the creek; members said crews have repeatedly repaired the road and that spring and fall water flow washes it out.
Aldermen suggested moving the roadway north to a more stable grade and requested a field visit by public facilities committee members to examine options, including placing larger rock or regrading the path. Staff said the park repairs and work items will be reviewed by the committee, and aldermen requested that the committee consider any projects that were deferred pending the city’s strategic plan.
The discussion noted the three-lane project as another long-term item that needs to be added to the tracking list; staff acknowledged the item and said preliminary numbers exist but may need updating.
No formal action or vote was recorded on relocating the road; the board instructed staff to schedule the committee meeting and report back with a recommendation and potential scope of work.
