Carl Junction adopts change order to reduce solar-array scope in 2025 storm-damage repairs

The Board of Aldermen of the City of Carl Junction on July 15 approved Ordinance No. as read into the record adopting Change Order No. 1 with R. E. Smith Construction Company to revise the solar array scope of work for the 2025 storm-damage repairs to city facilities and to decrease the project cost.

The clerk read the ordinance title describing the change order to the agreement between the city and R. E. Smith Construction Company "to complete the 2025 storm damage repairs to city facilities," stating the change order revises the solar-array scope at a decreased cost. During discussion, staff said the change order covers removal of a solar array at one city location and another at the police department; reusable components will be stored at public works or at the wastewater treatment plant and damaged components discarded, while concrete columns will remain in place.

Alderman Dr. Pyle moved to place the ordinance on first, then second, and then final reading by title; the final passage motion was also moved by Dr. Pyle and seconded by Roger Spencer.
