Forest Park planning department to launch online permitting system June 1; public trainings scheduled

Forest Park’s Planning and Community Development Department told the City Council on Thursday it will roll out a new online permitting system June 1 and will hold trainings for both the public and staff ahead of that launch.
Director Gosar said the system will allow residents to apply for permits, pay fees and check code-compliance case statuses online. "You'll be able to go online, apply for all your permits, pay for your permits and receive them online," Gosar said.
Gosar announced a training for the public intended to teach residents how to use the new portal; the transcript records the training time and location in unclear form. He also said staff will have limited in-person services while the department trains: the lobby will have limited morning services Monday the 19th, and the planning lobby will be closed for staff training on Thursday, 05/22; the department expects to resume normal services Friday and said the system will be active June 1.
The department asked residents who need to submit permits on the day of staff training to use the online system. No fee changes were discussed during the update.
Councilmembers did not take any formal action; Director Gosar closed his remarks by inviting residents to the trainings and thanking the council for the opportunity to brief them.
