Public works reports paving, rotomilling and guardrail work across county roads

Casper said crews recently placed cement barriers on River Road and are preparing to switch traffic to the new driveway; a lane‑level course and two‑inch asphalt overlays are scheduled in several areas. The county’s new lay‑down machine has been used on All Ridge Road, where the county and a nearby city worked together to prepare the road from the church up to the jail. Casper reported use of a rotomill (rental) to clean and prep surfaces and said the machine produced “a heck of a job” though maintenance is costly.
Other work described:
- Guardrail pricing and possible concrete-barrier options are being evaluated. - The crew is scheduled to pave approaches at Grenada Park, then proceed to Lemmon Bench and other pullouts; tree covers and patching are part of the scope. - Dust suppression crews are spraying dirt roads where needed. - A laydown crew will be headed to the Telephone Building area and Highway 40 ridge work is planned.
Casper also noted heavy truck traffic on certain haul routes has damaged overlay material in places; commissioners discussed coordinating with large haulers to reduce road wear and potentially meeting with contractors to agree on mitigation and repairs.
Ending: Commissioners asked staff to continue outreach to large haulers and city partners about repairs and potential cost‑sharing; Public Works will return with detailed guardrail pricing and a schedule for the next overlay runs.
