Warren to share cost for new ATOS 911 call‑handling solution; county to invoice city

The sheriff's office presented a cost‑sharing agreement with the City of Warren to cover Warren's share of a new ATOS 911 call handling solution previously approved by the board. Elizabeth Vegas, operations manager for the sheriff's department, said the solution includes equipment and cloud technology to replace legacy systems at three of Macomb County's PSAPs (Sheriff's Office, Warren and Shelby Township).
Under the proposed agreement, Warren's contribution is a one‑time nonrecurring cost of $210,384 plus an annual recurring cost of $205,460. Vegas said the county will invoice the vendor directly and then invoice the City of Warren for its share; the packet listed Warren's total contribution at $1,032,244 across the cost term shown in the agreement.
Commissioners asked about language access. Vegas said each PSAP currently uses a language line for on‑demand interpretation but that the ATOS solution improves language access and can accept text inputs in roughly 300 languages, offering far broader support than existing language lines.
The committee voted to recommend the cost‑share agreement for full board approval.
