The Super Neighborhood Alliance agreed to finalize and send a letter to Houston City Council about a proposed metal-fencing ordinance after members suggested minor edits and clarifications at its June meeting.
The Alliance's acting chair, Leticia Grant, said Amy prepared the letter for submission and asked attendees whether they had questions or changes. Grant noted the group wanted to ensure everyone had reviewed the text before sending it to city officials.
Greg (member) praised the draft and suggested a few editorial and factual checks, including the salutation and a typographical correction: “in the first paragraph... it says exiting, and I think that means should be existing problems.” He also recommended adding page numbers and verifying references to Kingwood, The Woodlands and Katy so the letter does not conflate city limits with homeowners’ associations. Amy (staff member) said she would integrate comments submitted by Naomi Osfeld and others and circulate a revised draft.
Vicky (committee member) said the most recent draft resolved the two corrections and that she was satisfied with the version prepared by Amy: “I think the final draft that Amy worked hard on and got to us and you showed the 2 corrections, I think that solidifies it for for us, and I think we're satisfied with it.” Leticia thanked members who assisted with the draft and said the Alliance is hopeful the letter “will fall upon the proper ears and of the the eyes of those that need to see it.”
The group did not take a formal vote during the meeting; Amy will incorporate emailed comments and resend the revised letter before the July meeting so members can confirm the final version prior to sending it to City Council.
