The reductions include hiring freezes, deferred equipment purchases and program cuts designed to reduce the fiscal 2026 operating plan by roughly the administrator’s target. Council discussion centered on whether cuts should affect community events and volunteer-supported programs or be drawn from other lines such as paving and capital reserves.
Why it matters: The default budget forces the council to find roughly three-quarters of a million dollars in reductions across town departments.
