Committee to study Cantons old courthouse to hold public input session June 10

Skiles said one option already being discussed is demolition of the old courthouse. "One of the options is to tear down the old courthouse," he said, and he said he planned to be "a loud voice for City of Canton" on the committee because he did not want to see the building removed. He urged local residents to attend the committee meetings or contact him with questions.
Skiles said the committee will tour the building at its organizational meeting and that meetings will be livestreamed and recorded. He said he expects the panel to investigate structural and mechanical conditions, and he intends to press for those investigations to be part of the committees work.
The public input meeting on June 10 will be held in the courthouse commission chambers and is open to the public, Skiles said. No formal action by the Canton City Commission on the courthouse was recorded in the transcript.
