Resident urges county action after air testing near Eco Vista landfill; calls for ADEQ and ADH involvement

A resident, Kenneth Lovett of Clearwater Road, addressed the County Services Committee during public comment to report that air testing around the Eco Vista landfill was completed on May 11 and that community members remain concerned about the testing method and coverage.
Lovett said testing by a third party, completed May 2–11, will take roughly 60 days for results and that some previously identified “hot spots” were not retested. He told the committee residents reported strong odors—described as leachate—during the final day of testing and said several people had temporarily left their homes and some required medical treatment. Lovett asked the committee to contact the Arkansas Department of Health and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, to press for thorough review and response.
The committee accepted the comment during the public‑comment period; no formal committee action, motion or vote was taken in response.
