Building Inspection Commission appoints new examiners and reappoints standing committees

The San Francisco Building Inspection Commission on May 21 appointed Paul McGrath to the vacant licensed mechanical engineer seat on the Board of Examiners and Nancy Madinski to the licensed general contractor seat, and reappointed a slate of incumbent members to several advisory bodies.

The appointments and reappointments were taken by roll call and carried unanimously. The commission administered oaths to new and reappointed members following the votes.

The actions followed subcommittee recommendations and short candidate presentations. Commissioners described McGrath as a mechanical engineer who has worked on projects including the Moscone Convention Center expansion and participated on the commercial‑to‑residential adaptive reuse task force. Commissioner Michelle Chavez and others recommended Nancy Madinski, described by commissioners as a San Francisco construction industry professional with more than 30 years of experience and prior work on retail and residential projects.

The commission also approved reappointments to the Board of Examiners for terms expiring Sept. 15, 2028, including Dan Caracciolo (plumbing contractor seat), Manny Flores (building trade seat), Steven Harris (licensed structural engineer seat), David Cain (licensed structural engineer, seismic improvement seat), James Reed (licensed electrical contractor seat), Michael Robbins (property owner / licensed architect or civil/structural engineer seat), Bradley Sugarman (licensed architect seat), Daniel Sullivan (building owner representative seat) and Ronnie Thomas (registered fire protection engineer seat). The commission reappointed members of the Access Appeals Commission and the Code Advisory Committee to terms specified on the agenda and administered oaths to those appointees.

Separately, the commission voted to appoint Commissioner Calamucci to the BIC nominations subcommittee, a small group that convenes as needed to fill vacancies on the Board of Examiners, Code Advisory Committee and Access Appeals Commission.
