The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada on May 13 granted the Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services Division's application to set the telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD) surcharge at 7¢ per access line for state fiscal year 2026.
Commissioner Cordova presented docket number 25-01038 and described the application as adopting the governor’s recommended budget for the TDD surcharge for fiscal year 2026. The draft order before the Commission recommended granting the application and approving a surcharge of 7¢ per access line based on staff recommendation. Commissioner Cordova moved to grant the application as modified by the draft order; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
No comments or questions were raised during the public meeting beyond routine confirmation that staff recommended approval. The Commission did not discuss the surcharge’s projected revenue amounts or any alternative surcharge levels at the meeting.
