Bristol council approves proclamations for National Public Works Week and the Cameo Theater centennial

At its May 13 meeting the Bristol Virginia City Council approved two ceremonial proclamations: one designating May 18–24, 2025, as National Public Works Week and another recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Cameo Theater.
Mayor Becky Nave read the proclamation for National Public Works Week, citing the essential role of public works employees in maintaining infrastructure and mentioning a recent Public Works project—a new bus pull-off on Martin Luther King Drive—that improves safety and traffic flow. Public works staff Scott Barry and Sean Kerr came forward to accept the proclamation.
The council also approved a joint proclamation recognizing the Cameo Theater’s centennial and reciting the theater’s history—its 1925 opening, renovations, and recent renovation and reopening history. Tim Ford was present to accept recognition on behalf of the theater.
Both proclamations passed by unanimous roll call vote. No council action beyond the ceremonial approvals was required.
