The Baldwin Park City Council met in closed session and reported in open session that it had voted 4-0 to make a conditional employment offer for a new chief executive officer/city manager.
City Attorney reported that the council directed staff and intends to place a final agreement with the position’s terms on the next council meeting agenda. The attorney also reported that a second closed-session item — a public-employee appointment for director of community development — was continued to the end of the regular agenda.
Why it matters: A new city manager is the city’s top executive; the council’s conditional offer means negotiations are ongoing and a formal appointment and final contract are expected at the next meeting.
The council did not announce the candidate’s name during the open-session report. The matter will return to open session for final action when the agreement with terms is placed on a future agenda.
