Votes at a glance: Fiscal Court approves grants, administrative-code amendment, paving change order and personnel actions

The Oldham County Fiscal Court on May 20 approved a series of routine and specific actions, including grant awards, an administrative-code amendment, a small change order to the county’s spring paving contract and several personnel actions.

The amendment was presented by Tina Shoff; a motion to adopt "Ordinance KLC 25-200-482 regarding Chapter 10" was made by the human-resources committee and passed by voice vote.

- Paving change order: The court approved a contract change-order request to the spring 2025 paving package to cover additional guardrail post replacements on Mayo Lane and additional unanticipated work on Glenarm Road (vacuum excavation around a gas main and a culvert replacement). County staff said the requested increase was $20,739 against a total paving-package contract of about $1,000,361. The motion carried by voice vote.

- Personnel actions: The court approved three personnel actions: hiring Amber Wagers as an animal-control officer at $19.00 per hour effective June 2; promoting Justin Dahl to sergeant at a base hourly rate of $43.30; and renewing Chief Smith’s contract effective June 1. The chief’s contract renewal passed with a recorded margin reported in the meeting as 7–1 in favor; other personnel items passed by voice vote.

- Other routine business: The court approved payment of the bills and adjourned. All votes not otherwise tallied in the record were approved by voice vote; the clerk recorded the motions as carried in each instance.
