Committee tables one condemnation and forwards another involving North Floyd Street property

The City of Jonesboro Public Safety Council Committee on its agenda took two actions on condemnation resolutions.

The committee voted to postpone Resolution 25-046 indefinitely after code enforcement asked that the item be pulled because the property has a new owner. A staff member said, "We've had a request from code enforcement to pull it and ask to table it indefinitely. I believe there's a new owner for the property." Scott Roper, identified in the meeting as the staff member giving an update, stated, "That property has been sold recently and, has a new owner. So obviously, we can no longer follow through with the condemnation." The chair then called for a motion; the motion to postpone indefinitely was seconded and the chair declared the item "tabled indefinitely."

The committee then considered Resolution 25-047, described in the meeting as "a resolution by the city council of the city of Jonesboro, Arkansas to condemn property located at 1208 North Floyd Street, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401, parcel number 0114312401600." A committee member moved to recommend the resolution to the full council and another seconded; the chair said the resolution "does pass on to full council."
