The Greater Lafourche Port Commission approved payment of April invoices and recognized expenditures over $25,000 totaling $5,966,139.56. The finance committee read aloud the larger payments on the record, which included multiple contractors and project-specific disbursements.
Notable line items read into the record included: Rigid Construction LLC ($2,090,104.17) for Ida Breakwater repairs; a $999,127.09 payment for slip deep bulkhead; Volut Inc. ($413,955.85) for fuel system rehabilitation; GIS Engineering ($255,725.90) for multiple channel and consulting efforts; Marsh Buggies Inc. ($188,500) as first payment for a new excavator; LMB Services LLC and another vendor ($185,000) listed as an obstruction removal project settlement; BET Construction Inc. ($151,118.98) for the FBO terminal; and several other payees and amounts recorded in the finance committee presentation. The item passed on a motion and voice vote; one abstention was recorded for the payments motion.
The commission also accepted the April 2025 preliminary unaudited financial statements following committee review and then held a roll-call vote to adopt the 2025 millage rate for operations and maintenance at 6.54 mills. Staff noted the adopted rate is below the parish maximum (reported on the record as 7.9 mills) and reflects the amount the port determined it needs for operations and maintenance. The roll call recorded unanimous "yes" votes from commissioners present on the millage adoption.
Commission staff reminded commissioners that annual Tier 2 financial disclosure forms were due May 15 and promoted an open house on May 17; staff provided event details in the meeting’s closing remarks.
