The Lakeville City Council on May 19 approved several items by motion, including consent agenda items, a consumption and display permit for a new business, and a preliminary plat for commercial development.
Consent agenda: The council approved the consent agenda by motion, which included one highlighted item: the purchase of a gas kiln for the Fine Arts Building. City staff said the kiln purchase is funded through a donation from Friends of the Arts Center and a grant from Minnesota Energy Resources. The motion to approve the consent agenda passed with the council voting in favor.
Consumption and display permit: The council held a public hearing on an application from LD Designs LLC, doing business as Board and Brush, for a consumption and display permit at 20770 Holyoke Avenue. The city clerk reported the application and background check met ordinance requirements. The council closed the public hearing and voted to grant the permit; the roll call recorded Mayor Hellyer, Burmel, Walter, Lee and Bolt voting aye.
Heritage Commons Ninth Edition preliminary plat: Community Development staff presented a preliminary plat application by The Architects Partnership to subdivide a vacant outlot in Heritage Commons into two commercial lots and to vacate surrounding drainage and utility easements. The west lot is proposed for a 3,395-square-foot Chase Bank with access from Heritage Drive and Idyllic Avenue and includes a drive-through lane and bypass lane. The planning commission held a public hearing on May 8 and recommended unanimous approval with 11 stipulations. The council voted to approve a resolution accepting the preliminary plat and vacating the easements; roll call showed unanimous approval.
