Planning Commission recommends Article 7 historic resource protection amendments, subject to edits

The Erie Planning Commission voted May 20 to recommend proposed language changes to Article 7 of the zoning code, which covers historic resource protection, after discussing edits raised at a prior special meeting.
Staff told commissioners that during a separate special meeting they had reviewed draft language and identified numerous suggested alterations. The commission voted to recommend approval subject to incorporation of the comments made at that earlier meeting; a motion to that effect received a second and passed on a voice vote.
Staff clarified that the action at this meeting concerned only Article 7 (historic resource protection) and not Article 6 (definitions for the entire zoning ordinance), because all definitions that pertain to historic resource protection had been moved into Article 7 for this amendment package.
Commissioners recorded no formal objections during the voice vote. Staff said they will finalize the revised language with the agreed edits and forward the recommended amendment to City Council for consideration.
