Committee agrees to participate in joint awards process and names representatives to review nominations

The Middleburg Historic District Review Committee agreed to participate in the Joint Architectural Review Board awards process and designated representatives to review and submit nominations if staff‑timing requires action before the committee’s next regular meeting.

Staff told the committee the town of Leesburg will again coordinate the awards this year and asked whether Middleburg wished to nominate projects and appoint a representative as in prior years. Committee members discussed the workload and logistics. Chair Klynes said she would serve as one reviewer and offered to pair with another committee member to prepare nominations if the timetable required action before the committee could consider items at a full meeting.

Klynes said she and another committee member would review the approved projects and return recommended nominations to the committee when possible. Staff agreed to circulate the list of eligible projects and provide available dates, and the committee asked members to respond with availability so staff can consolidate dates for any meeting or subcommittee work.

Committee members emphasized the importance of participating in the countywide program and asked staff to clarify the time window for eligible projects and the nomination timetable.

The committee did not take a binding vote naming a specific alternate; instead, members agreed that Chair Klynes and an additional committee member would act as the subcommittee if needed and that staff should proceed by circulating dates and a list of approved projects for review.
