The Middleburg Historic District Review Committee approved COA 25‑14 to allow repainting of the porch railing, handrails, pickets and the signpost that holds the Best Thai Kitchen / Red Sushi Bar sign at 4 East Federal Street.
Planner Will Moore noted the application was the first the committee has seen that included an image generated with artificial intelligence; the AI image changed many other aspects of the building, but the committee’s review was limited to the painted elements that require historic‑district approval. Applicant Neil Metzger told the committee the staff summary was accurate.
"No. That was a perfect synopsis," Metzger said after staff described the request.
Committee members said the white painted railing brightened the frontage and recommended durable paint for a high‑touch rail. The committee approved COA 25‑14 as submitted.
The motion passed with all present committee members voting in favor. The applicant may proceed with repainting and must follow any relevant building‑ or sign‑permit requirements.
