Greene County Public Works updates: bridge and paving projects, tire-shredding gains and multiple bid approvals

"In past 2 years, we'll probably have 4 more bridges in our inventory because of the new standards for hydraulics and DEC requirements," he said.
On paving and surface treatments Scott told the committee roughly 19 miles are scheduled for overlay and almost 40 miles for all surface treatments including micro-surfacing, chip seal and crack sealing. Staff said heavy spring rains and workforce pressures will push some work into September and October.
Solid waste and recycling: staff reported rising solid-waste volume, successful deployment of a tire sidewall remover and shredder that reduces stored tires at transfer stations and an operational rim-removal tool. The committee confirmed household hazardous waste days for June 28 in Windham and Sept. 6 in Athens.
