County oversight board hears updates on roofing, HVAC and security projects and staff recognitions at George W. Hill

Warden Williams and facility staff updated the board on capital projects and employee recognitions at George W. Hill Correctional Facility.

Williams reported the county awarded the farm‑shop roofing contract to EA Roofing Company, LLC. The project began May 12 and was scheduled to finish May 30; Williams told the board the contractor completed the work despite significant weather and praised the crew and on‑site staff for safety and cleanliness. Williams named crew members by the transcript: Manny Holstetter, Jason Holstetler, Mallon Stoltzfuss, Tom Foster, Elijah Boone and Austin Landrum, and said Correctional Officer Luann Law provided on‑site stewardship.

Williams said one roof and associated HVAC work are complete, two roofs are partially complete and another roof project will start soon; staff expect to make up a roughly one‑week weather delay without impacting the larger schedule. The security‑system upgrade is in a testing phase, Williams said, and multiple crews are being coordinated to implement that work safely while moving populations as needed.

Williams also announced employees of the month and recent promotions: officer Kyle Harris; volunteer coordinator Perry Matero; Sergeant Daryl Venet; and Chaplain Coquilia Dunn. Promotions and hires included Lieutenant John Olmichuk, Sergeant Reshea Miles and Sergeant Matthew Stefano. Williams also recognized multiple staff for more than 10 years of county service.

Next steps: roofing and HVAC projects will continue on the schedule as weather allows; security upgrades will proceed from testing to phased implementation.
