Jackson County 911/dispatch staff told the Public Safety and Transportation Committee on June 9 that they moved a new HPA interface onto the county’s production environment and are building out call types ahead of a planned July 1 go-live for basic call-handling.
Staff said roughly 7,000 call-type entries remain to be created in the new interface and that two staff members are entering call types daily. Dispatch training and joint training with county HVAD staff are scheduled for this month. The presenter said the county intends to go live July 1 knowing that a large build-out of additional call types will continue after launch; the goal is to implement the most common call categories first.
Other items in the quarterly dispatch report included continuing dispatch training (six different sessions in recent months), discussions about a CAD-to-CAD link with Hillsdale County, completion of the county’s state 911 compliance review (staff sent minor corrections back and expected state approval), and a new reporting feature that plots calls geographically for multi-call incidents.
Staff also described a “busiest hours” report that showed a March 30 hourly peak when the county handled about 160 calls in one hour and a new monthly comparison report showing calls so far in 2025 compared with prior years. The radio-recording upgrade tied to the statewide Motorola change was also raised as a separate procurement issue handled later in the meeting.
Committee members asked whether reports can show interagency cooperation in urgent incidents; staff said they would review the existing options and attempt to create such a report. The committee voted to receive the quarterly dispatch report.
