Staff noted current UDC hotel standards were written in 2018–19 and have proven difficult for recent hotel projects to meet; the Development Review Committee recommended right‑sizing the requirement to reflect industry practice while maintaining an amenity standard. Commissioners expressed support for the amendment as a practical update that will remove an unnecessary barrier for hotel applicants.
Commissioner Janie Adekari moved to close public comment and approve the text amendment per DRC; Commissioner Michelle Madden seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The amendment will be processed as a text change to the UDC and applied to future lodging applications.
