Hocking County commissioners handled multiple routine governance items and financial housekeeping measures at their June 5 meeting, approving meeting minutes, bills, appropriation transfers, appointments and other standard business.
The board approved multiple sets of meeting minutes (May 13, May 15, May 22, May 27 emergency meeting, May 29) by motion and, where requested, roll call. Commissioners also approved the payment of bills and a motion to adopt the meeting agenda.
Financial actions approved included appropriation transfers and additional revenue certifications: a transfer of $652.76 from a recorder’s workers’ compensation account to a supplies account (account numbers cited in the record), a transfer of $2,500 from an OPERS account to a Medicare account in the commissioners’ department to cover the remainder of the year, and additional appropriations from sheriff’s sale proceeds reported by the treasurer and the auditor (amounts cited in the record as $5,724.94 and $5,080.19 respectively). The board also rescinded a prior initial appropriation for the sheriff’s office web‑check account after county staff said there were accounting errors and no funds remaining in that account.
The board approved an annual proxy letter allowing the sheriff’s office to authorize Chief Penny Stack (as recorded in the minutes) to sign documents required by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles for the sheriff’s vehicles.
The commissioners approved an appointment to the regional Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMH) board: Tom Williamson was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Cameron Millerway; the appointment begins July 1 and the remainder of the term expires June 30, 2027.
The board approved closeout documents for a sanitary sewer improvement project in Rockbridge (final change order and contract reduction, with retainage to be held pending final inspection), and a certificate appointment for a commissioners’ office item that was signed by the board.
The board granted permission for five parking spaces to be reserved for handicapped parking at a downtown lot for the Washboard Festival, which meeting participants said was taking place that weekend, and approved routine miscellaneous and administrative items included in the agenda packet.
Announcements and nonbinding items included a courthouse centennial rededication ceremony scheduled for June 23 with an open house and a presentation of the restored clock; information about an early‑intervention team event on June 26 and a family summer fundraiser; and ongoing work on a county land bank resolution that commissioners said they expect to sign in coming weeks as part of forming a land‑bank entity.
Votes on the routine items were recorded either by voice vote or roll call as shown in the meeting record; where roll call votes were requested the transcript records the named responses for those items.
