The Ocala Historic Preservation Advisory Board approved a Certificate of Appropriateness on May 5 for a 54-inch black aluminum fence and gate at a contributing structure on Southeast Third Street, with a condition that the final installed height not exceed 4 feet.
Staff presented the application from Kevin and Adrina Pazuti to replace an existing mixed-height wooden fence with a black aluminum fence and gate. Staff said the property is within the Ocala Historic District, described it as a contributing structure dating to 1895, and recommended the proposed aluminum fencing as an appropriate alteration under the certificate of appropriateness criteria and fence standards (section 94-82(g)(1) and section 94-86).
A neighbor who lives on the east elevation indicated they had no objection to changing a failing wood fence to aluminum. Board members asked about the requested height; staff clarified the applicant proposed 54 inches but added that, as installed, the fence should not exceed 4 feet. One member moved to approve the COA with the condition that the installed fence not exceed 4 feet in height; another seconded the motion and the board voted in favor.
The motion carried and staff will record the condition in the final COA.
