Board approves transfer of housing vouchers, PLHA amendment and several contracts; votes at a glance

Lake County supervisors on June 3 approved a series of administrative actions and contracts aimed at consolidating housing services, finalizing grant plan amendments, and funding behavioral health services.

The board moved quickly through many items that drew limited debate: the Lake County Housing Commission approved voluntary transfer of the county’s entire housing choice voucher portfolio and associated HUD funding to the Regional Housing Authority; the board approved an amendment to the Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) five-year plan and its implementing resolution; and the board approved several amendments to behavioral-health vendor agreements to close out multiyear program funding. The board also approved a request to display an LGBTQIA2S+ pride flag at the courthouse for the month of June and made several appointments to local advisory bodies.

Why it matters: the voucher transfer makes a small, rural housing authority’s federal voucher programs administratively part of a larger regional agency, which county staff told supervisors will improve program capacity and allow use of administrative funds for project-based vouchers.
