Keith Free, planning director, listed projects under staff review, including a lot amendment at Ferguson Acres (Donna Drive), consolidation for Forest Retreat at 70706 West Main Street tied to a commercial strip center, a small parking lot for Friends of Indian Lake at Heritage Park, Glen Oak Commons site work, Mansker Farms parking work, a plat correction for Millstone Phase 6, Merrell Hyde Magnet School tennis-court improvements coordinated with the Sumner County School System, consolidation for an MTO Partners property at 128 Sanders Ferry Road (a project to appear before the commission in July), and a staff-level amendment to Woodland Park (previously Baird Farms) reducing lots by about seven due to topography.
Free introduced Zachary T. Coleman as the new senior planner, noting the department conducted a nationwide search. Coleman told the commission he comes from the Federal Highway Administration, where he worked for three years, and earlier served as a senior planner for Orange County, N.Y., for six and a half years. He said his experience includes federal grants, transportation planning and land-use reviews. “I’m excited to kinda bring it to the city level and actually be able to kinda implement everything that I’ve learned,” Coleman said.
Free thanked the planning staff for their work and said the department’s bench is strong compared with other jurisdictions. Commissioners welcomed Coleman to the department. No votes or formal actions were taken on the individual pending items during the meeting; they remain in staff review or will return to the commission at future meetings as noted by staff.
