Council approves amendment to AC Kaplinger ball field contract after contaminated soil removal

Brad Rainey, Edmond Parks and Recreation Director, told the council on May 27 that the AC Kaplinger ball field renovation requires an amendment to the construction manager's guaranteed maximum price to account for soil import after contaminated material was removed.
Rainey said, "12,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil have been hauled off to the landfill, and then, soil needs to come in." He described the GMP amendment as one of the smaller GMPs on the project and explained the import of clean soil is being priced under unit costs established at the project's public bid. Rainey added that approximately 2,000 cubic yards of excavation remain at the site for foundations and light pole piers.
The council moved to approve agenda item 9c; the motion passed 5-0. Rainey gave no additional presentation slides and the item was presented as a comment and vote on the GMP amendment; no amendments or conditions were recorded.
