Harnett Regional Water officials presented four project ordinances to the board, all of which are on the county's Capital Improvement Plan and scheduled for formal approval at the next regular board meeting.
The projects are: - Buies Creek collection system upgrades to increase sewer capacity in the Buies Creek corridor and into Lillington; staff said an engineer is being selected. - Erwin downtown utility upgrades to relocate water services in the downtown area; staff said an engineer has been selected and a contract is under review. - Old Hamilton Road water extension to connect an 8‑inch line on NC‑82 and a 6‑inch on Antioch Road; an engineer has been selected and contract review is under way. - Lead and copper compliance project mandated by EPA rules: the county must catalogue all service lines, identify unknowns and replace any lead lines found; staff said an engineer has been selected and the contract is under review.
County staff presented the status of each project and indicated each item will appear on next week's consent agenda for board approval of the project ordinances and associated contracts. No contracts were executed at the work session.
