The Finance Standing Committee voted to favorably recommend ordinance O12/25 to create a street park on Annapolis Street.
A sponsor said the Annapolis Street project would be the third park in Ward 2 in the last four years and that adding green space there would “be a big boost for the area.” The sponsor also said she had submitted a budget amendment to fund the park.
Committee members noted a fiscal impact associated with the project and discussed where funds would come from. One member said the impact was “about $14,500 plus $5,000 a year” but that final budget allocations depend on whether the sponsor’s amendment is adopted at the full council budget hearing. The sponsor and the committee agreed budget trade-offs would be worked out in the council process.
There was no public works or Recreation & Parks staff present in committee to present the item; the committee proceeded to recommend the ordinance to the full council.
The committee moved and seconded a favorable recommendation on O12/25; the motion passed by voice vote.
