Carson City CTA approves FY2026 budget and $120,000 Cultural Corridor contract

The Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority board approved its final fiscal year 2026 budget and authorized a contract for the Cultural Corridor project during its meeting on May 19, 2025, at the Carson City Community Center Robert Bob Kroll Boardroom.
The board voted to adopt the FY2026 budget as presented. Chris Kipp, the CTA’s operations and finance manager, told the board “the final budget that you guys have is exactly the same as the tentative budget you approved at the last meeting.” Kipp said the only change was that “we have, changed the column number 4 to match the tentative.” The chair opened a public hearing on the budget, heard no public comment, and the board moved to approve the budget as presented.
The board also approved contract number 2420Five-four with Kaye Denial Consults for work on the 3D Cultural Corridor executive director role, for a not-to-exceed amount of $120,000. David Peterson, executive director of Visit Carson City, described the contract as part of a larger regional effort that includes Douglas County, Virginia City and Silver City and said the consultant will focus on securing funding for years three through ten of the project. Peterson noted that the CTA is the fiscal conduit for the grant funds submitted to Travel Nevada and the Nevada Commission on Tourism.
Both actions passed by voice vote after motions on the record. No public testimony was submitted during the budget hearing. No additional conditions or amendments were recorded in the meeting minutes for either item.
The board previously approved the tentative budget at an earlier meeting; the FY2026 final budget includes the same program and line-item structure, with the administrative adjustment noted by Kipp. The Cultural Corridor contract approved on May 19 corresponds to the amount included in the CTA’s grant application paperwork, according to staff.
The CTA will operate under the adopted FY2026 budget and will execute the Cultural Corridor contract as the next step; staff indicated they will continue to update the board on grant decisions and on efforts to secure additional regional funding for the project.
