Finney County commissioners approved a staff recommendation to contract with McGrath Human Resource Group to perform a countywide compensation and classification study.
Human Resources Director Kelly Munyon explained a selection committee of county officials and commissioners had solicited proposals, interviewed two finalists (the Arnold Group and McGrath), and unanimously recommended McGrath based on experience, a public-safety specialty and a consistent proven product used by comparable jurisdictions. McGrath—s proposal was approximately $72,000; the Arnold Group—s proposal was about $66,000.
County officials said the study will include review of job descriptions, classification, pay structures and comparisons to peer local governments and relevant private-sector employers. McGrath representatives indicated the work would take approximately six months and that the firm offers optional annual maintenance services for updates.
The commission voted to accept the recommendation and directed staff to prepare a contract for review and execution.
Why it matters: The study will provide updated market comparisons for wages and total compensation across county departments, including public safety, and is intended to inform budgeting and any future pay adjustments.
