Boise — At a meeting of the Senate Judiciary and Rules Committee, members approved routine committee business including printing administrative rule resolutions, approving minutes and forwarding two gubernatorial reappointments with recommendations for confirmation.
The committee voted to send RS 32,423, the committee's 2025 administrative rules resolution, to print after a motion by Sen. Ricks and second by Sen. Wintrow. The motion passed without recorded opposition and the chair announced RS 32,423 would be sent to print.
The committee also voted to print RS 32,435, a minor amendment to a protective-placement-related resolution that adds the words "imminent danger" in three places; the motion to send RS 32,435 to print was moved by Sen. Foreman and seconded by Sen. Shippey and carried without recorded opposition.
The committee approved minutes from Jan. 29, 2025, and Feb. 3, 2025. A motion from Sen. Lent (seconded by Sen. Wintrow) approved the Jan. 29 minutes; a motion from Sen. Lenny (seconded by Sen. Wintrow) approved the Feb. 3 minutes.
The committee moved two gubernatorial reappointments to the Senate floor with recommendations for confirmation: the reappointment of Matthew Thomas to the Offender Management Board and the reappointment of Mike Matthews to the Commission of Pardons and Parole. The committee moved the Thomas nomination (motion by Sen. Wintrow; seconded by Sen. Ricks) and the Matthews nomination (motion by Sen. Ricks; seconded by Sen. Wintrow) forward with the recommendation that the full Senate confirm both nominees.
All items were acted on by voice vote unless otherwise noted. The committee adjourned after completing business.
